Tuesday, October 8th was the UH Cross Country team's home meet - the 2 Mile Break Your Pace run. At this point in the season this is a fun way to help our runners mentally move forward. It's only 2 miles, and it's a relatively flat course, so runners can use all that extra stamina they've built up over the season and run at a faster pace than they have during the past weeks. The day was perfect for a race, and the Bulldogs enjoyed the day.
The team warms up, gets their bibs on and stretches out. Today's race will be quick, so we all need to be ready to get a fast start. The boys are up first, starting a bit after 4pm. It's fun to have more UHS fans out here today, parents can come, classmates can be here and the UH Football Team comes across the street to give the team a great sendoff. We love having all that energy here!
The guys finish their home meet with a great push to the finish. We're led in by Isaiah's strong work, followed closely by Sam & Dale. All three finish in the Top 10 today - Isaiah 2nd, Sam 7th and Dale 9th.
A few minutes of rest, then it's off to the starting line to help the girls jump out to a quick start.

The girls push thru at that faster pace, and have some good finishes also. It's so much more fun to run hard in front of the home fans! Jenna leads most of the race, then holds on for 2nd. Jessica hangs in there to finish with her second consecutive 5th place finish and give us two girls in the Top 10. It's a much different beast, this 2 mile race, and it plays tricks with your head. But the Girls Team works thru it and has a good day. Nice job ladies.
Some members of the team head off soon after the race for other committments or physical treatments, while the remaining team members celebrate our award winners. After rehydrating and getting some food in us, there's time for some more 'team' photos and some fun. We're ALWAYS up for fun! And when you look up "TEAM" in the dictionary, you find US. Well done, 'Dogs.
